NSCDC Abia State Cooperative Society Holds Its AGM, Rewards Retiring Members
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Limited, Abia State command held its 5th Annual General Meeting at the State headquarters with a charge to members to be supportive of the leadership so as to achieve the desired aim of the Cooperative.
This call was made by the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Akinsola Aderemi.
Aderemi who was represented by Deputy Commandant of Corps Raphael Eledewe, encouraged members of the cooperative to continue to work together in unity and cooperation, adding that only their collective strength and commitment will ensure that the cooperative society continues to grow, thrive, and contribute to the betterment of its members.
He therefore, expressed his appreciation to the leadership and members of the Cooperative Society for their unwavering dedication to the cause of economic empowerment of its members.
In his address, the President of NSCDC Abia State Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Limited DSC Okpokiri Nnaemeka, appreciated God for his love, grace and faithfulness that have sustained them in carrying out the onerous task of piloting the affairs of the organization.
DSC Okpokiri said that despite all challenges faced, the cooperative membership increased from 352 to 403 while their capital base moved from Eighty-five million to One hundred and fourteen million, eight hundred and eleven thousand, six hundred and twenty-one naira.
According to him, the cooperative society has helped willing persons in making periodic short- term savings which has gone a long way in helping them take care of immediate and emergency challenges.
The President while appreciating the members for their unwavering support and constructive criticisms which he said put them on the right pedestrian, extended his gratitude to the Commandant General of NSCDC Muhammed Abubakar Audi, the State Commandant Akinsola Aderemi, Commandant Cooperative Ogbadu Austine Ogbadu,immediate past president of the Cooperative CSC Uzoaru Prince Nnamaka and members of Board of Trustees for their support and selflessness.
Okpokiri revealed that the cooperative society has twelve members who retired within the period under review while five died.
Exposing the theme of this year’s Annual General Meeting ” Sustainable Growth In The Present Economy” ACC Peace Mbuba, encouraged the leadership to embrace risk management strategies, innovation and adaptation, partnerships and collaborations, member engagement and education and diversification of services if they must succeed and remain afloat.
ACC Mbuba challenged them Leverage technology to enhance operations, improve efficiency, diverse its business operations as it is the only way to sustain its growth and remain competitive while meeting the needs of its members.
Speaking on behalf of the retired members, DCC Ozurumba Fidelis, expressed joy to God for seeing them through the service and the organization for the honour done them.
He requested that the cooperative should device a way of helping retiring members establish a business after retirement.
The AGM featured declaration of profits, sharing of dividends to members and presentation of gift and benefit to retired members.
