The crisis surrounding the gruesome killing of Mr. Solomon Ikuko has taken a new turn as the traditional ruler of his community, HRH Eze Larry Ogbonna, publicly swore an oath before Ezeji Ndi Oba Oboro in Ikwuano Local Government Area, declaring he had no hand in Solomon’s death and never used his body parts for rituals during his new yam festival.

Eze Larry, who has been under public scrutiny following allegations of complicity and of harboring members of a disbanded vigilante group allegedly responsible for Solomon’s abduction and murder, made the declaration during a traditional ceremony witnessed by elders and community leaders.

In his emotional defense, the monarch maintained that he had no prior knowledge of any plan to abduct or kill Solomon.

“If I was aware or took part in any plan that led to Solomon’s death, may the gods strike me, my children, and my household,”  Eze Larry declared.

 

Background Of The Case: How Ikwuano Was Thrown Into Mourning

The latest development follows weeks of tension and protests in Amangwo community, where angry youths and women recently stormed the Ikwuano Local Government Secretariat, demanding justice for Solomon’s murder and the recovery of his missing head and other body parts.

All Facts Newspaper had earlier reported that Solomon was abducted by members of the now-disbanded vigilante group in October 2025. His decomposing remains were later discovered in a shallow stream between Amangwo Umuigu and a neighboring community on October 27, 2025, sparking outrage across Abia State.

The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Onyekachi Ikuko, had raised alarm weeks before his body was found, claiming her son was kidnapped under the supervision of the vigilante group allegedly loyal to Eze Larry.

“They said my son was hiding, but now everyone can see the truth. All I want is justice,” she cried during a previous interview with All Facts Newspaper.

Seven suspects have since been arrested and detained by the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia, while investigations continue.

Despite the oath, indigenes of Amangwo community have vowed to continue pushing for justice.

They insist that swearing before the gods does not replace legal accountability, urging security agencies to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and prosecute everyone involved — no matter their status.
