ABIA: Activists Join ADC, As Former SDP State Secretary Emerge Abia North Coordinator

A group of civil society activists who were members of the Social Democratic Party SDP in Abia State have abandoned ship for the emerging coalition of African Democratic Congress ADC and other political heavyweights in the country.

In a bold move, the SDP members were part of the coalition meeting of the ADC in Umuahia on Wednesday, 9th July 2025, when they were formally received by the party’s state secretary, Don Norman Obinna.

The meeting saw the group’s leader, Comrade Zulu Ofoelue emerging as the ADC State Vice Chairman for Abia North. This makes him the party leader for Abia North Senatorial Zone.

Welcoming the new party men, Obinna said that ADC was glad to receive them unto the flock and said their presence would help strengthen the party’ s spread and impact in Abia state.

On his part, Ofoelue unfolded a grand plan for the mass. mobilisation of the state, promising that the state would be vibing with the lyrics of the ADC in no distant time.

Recall that at a recent convergence in Abuja, the immediate past Chairman of the ADC had welcomed members of the Coalition Movement, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, former governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Kaduna State Mallam El Rufai, Senator David Mark, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola and a host of others.

The move is considered a strategic one to salvage Nigeria from its current leadership, considered by many as a failed one.
