Abia Govt inaugurates Amangwu Ohafia Primary Health Centre, promises more infrastructural development

In its determination towards strengthening healthcare delivery at the community level, the Abia State government has inaugurated the Amangwu Primary Health Centre in Ohafia Local Government Area.

The facility realized under the state’s Project Ekwueme Primary Health Centre Revitalisation Initiative, was inaugurated by the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu.

Addressing the gathering, Engineer Emetu noted that the upgraded centre would deliver affordable and prompt medical services, particularly to women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.

The Deputy Governor pointed out that expanding access to quality healthcare at the grassroots is a key priority of the administration of Dr Alex Chioma Otti.

According to him, Project Ekwueme formed part of broader reforms aimed at renovating, equipping, and functionalising primary health centres across the state.

The Deputy Governor assured residents of continued infrastructural and social sector projects across the state, and urged community members to take collective responsibility for safeguarding the facility to ensure its sustainability.

In their speeches, the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Hon Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Ifenyinwa Uma Kalu, lauded the state government for ongoing upgrades of health centres in several local councils.

They observed with delight that communities such as Amangwu and Ihenta were already benefitting from the intervention, which they said would significantly improve maternal and child healthcare services.
