ABIA STATE SET TO WELCOME PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR LANDMARK ROAD COMMISSIONING IN ABA

Abia State is preparing to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 3, 2025, for the official commissioning of major road projects that signal a new era of infrastructural renewal in Aba under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.

The President’s visit will spotlight the transformation of Port Harcourt Road, historically one of Aba’s busiest commercial corridors, now reconstructed as a modern three-lane dual carriageway. The project, which includes covered drainage and solar-powered street lighting, has been described as a symbol of Governor Otti’s commitment to restoring Aba as the commercial hub of the South-East.

In addition to Port Harcourt Road, President Tinubu will also commission several other newly rehabilitated roads across the city: Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road, Ajiwe Street, Umuatako Road, Chief Nkoro Street with adjoining spurs in Abayi, and Gabriel Nwosu Street. These road networks, long plagued by neglect, have been fully rebuilt to improve connectivity, ease traffic flow, and boost economic activity in the state.

The day’s program will culminate in a grand civic reception at Aba Township Stadium, starting at 10:00 a.m., where stakeholders, community leaders, and citizens will gather to celebrate this milestone. The Abia State Government has extended an open invitation to the business community, market associations, youth and women’s groups, traditional institutions, and residents at large to participate in welcoming the President.

Governor Otti noted that the road projects represent more than just physical infrastructure — they reflect his administration’s vision of sustainable urban renewal, economic revitalization, and improved quality of life for residents of Aba and beyond.

The commissioning is expected to mark a historic moment for Abia State, underscoring the value of federal-state collaboration in driving development and positioning Aba once again as a center of enterprise and innovation.
