Abis PDP hails INEC for recognizing Wike Group

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for formally recognizing its Caretaker National Working Committee Leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as Chairman and Secretary respectively, following the recent judgement of the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division.

In a statement signed by the Abia State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Jude Udeachara, the party described INEC’s decision which it demonstrated through the official invitation extended to the Mohammed-Anyanwu led CNWC to participate in its quarterly strategic engagement with leadership of political parties as a clear affirmation of the commission’s respect rule of law, equity, justice and due process.

“INEC decision which has put an end to the leadership crises in the party follows the unambiguous ruling of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, which nullified the purported convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State,” the statement noted.

According to Abia PDP, this development is a significant milestone in restoring order, legality and internal coherence within the party at the national level, especially at a time when preparation for what it termed the authentic national convention and future electoral activities which are gathering momentum.

The party therefore restated its commitment to due process while calling on party members to respect the rule of law and work collectively for the strengthening of the party in the wards, LGAs, States and the nation at large.
