ABSIEC, SECURITY AGENCIES, IPAC AND POLITICAL PARTIES SIGN PEACE ACCORD.

The Chairman Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Security Agencies, IPAC and Political Parties in Abia State signed a peace accord pending the local government election slated to take place on Saturday 2nd of November 2024 in Abia State.

Speaking during the occasion which took place at the ABISEC headquarters Ogurube Layout Umuahia, the Chairman ABSIEC Abia State Prof George N Chima reitrated the commissions preparedness to conduct a free fair and credible election in the state come Saturday November 2nd 2024.

He solicited the maximum support of all political parties, stake holders, towards achieving the conduct of a peaceful and credible local government areas election in the state.

According to Prof George Chima the training of Adhoc workers had been concluded, and materials meant for the election already dispatched to the 17 LGAs in Abia State.

He therefore charged and requested all the political parties to play according to the rules promising that all the ABISEC workers will be very thorough in the discharge of their duties.

In their separate speeches The Chairman Labour Party Abia State Hon Nweze Oti, The IPAC Chairman Mr Uluocha Chimex, deputy IPAC Chairman Hon Prince Onwukwe, IPAC/CUPP Publicity Secretary Victor Umunna, Coalition of Civil Societies in Nigeria Mr Victor Iroegbu commended the ABISEC Chairman and his team for the level of preparedness within the short time promised that all the political parties will cooperate with them to ensure a credible free and fair election.

They called on the ABSIEC Chairman to ensure that their votes will count so that Abia will restore the hope of democracy in the country.

In his contribution the Chairman Correspondence Chapel Abia State Chief Obinna Ibe commended the level of preparedness of the Chairman ABSIEC and his team within a short time frame.

He promised that journalist in the state are stake holders and will make sure that they will join hands to ensure a peaceful and credible election by giving proper reportage and monitoring of the election in the state.

The Representative of the Commissioner of Police Abia State promised that the police force in the state will work with all the stake holders to ensure a hitch free and credible election in the state, noted that they will wish that the election will be free and fair.

Also Speaking the Admin Secretary ABSIEC Rev Geofery Madugba assured that the local government areas election in Abia State will be free and fair but urged the stake holders in the game to make sure that they play according to the rules and reitrated their commitment to deliver credible election.

In his remarks Chief Kelechi Okere a Commissioner in ABISEC commended those who attended the ceremony and urged the political parties and all relevant stakeholders to partner with them to deliver a credible, successful, free and fair LGA election in the state.

The event attracted all the political parties in the state and security Agencies.
