Alleged fake degree: Sack, release Nnaji for prosecution – Atiku’s aide tells Tinubu

Mr Paul Ibe, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has urged President Bola Tinubu to sack and release the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, for prosecution.

The statement comes amid reports that the honourable Minister forged his degree certificate purportedly from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Nnaji is accused of using forged certificates from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, when he was appointed minister in 2023.

NAN reports that a hearing in a suit filed by Nnaji against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and others, was, on Monday, stalled at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The proceedings in the case, instituted by Nnaji over controversy about his university certificate, could not go on before Justice Hauwa Yilwa due to the inability of the lawyer for the UNN and its officers to file their responses.

Speaking on the matter, Ibe in a post on X on Monday said President Tinubu should have sacked him and released him for prosecution.

This he said was because the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has confirmed that the Minister allegedly forged the institution’s certificate.

He said: “Since the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has confirmed that Minister Uche Nnaji allegedly forged the institution’s certificate, which he presented officially for his ministerial appointment, one would have expected that President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT would have sacked him and released him for prosecution.”
