APC Ward Executive ratifies suspension of two members
The Executive of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahiaukwu Ward 2, Umuahia South LGA, abia State, has ratified the six-month suspension of State Secretary Chidi Avajah and Sylvester Onyekwere.
A statement signed by Acting Chairman Nwabueze Ndumele and Secretary, Ifeanyichukwu John Iteogu says the suspension follows the adoption of a disciplinary panel’s report after careful consideration and consultation.
They were facing allegations of constitutional breaches and running a parallel executive.
The statement made it clear that the duo are barred from representing the party for six months but may be reconsidered for reinstatement if they demonstrate remorse.
“The Executive Committee hereby ratifies the report and recommendations of the committee: a six months suspension on Mr Chdi Avaja member of All Progressve Congress Ahiaukwu Ward 2, That Mr Chidi Avaja shall not represent the party or her interest within the 6 months period in Ahiaukwu ward and beyond and the executive committee after 6 months may reconsider his readmission to the party if he shows remorse and if good conduct to the party,” the statement noted.
Recall, the controversy began last month when the party suspended Avajah for allegedly appointing Sylvester Onyekwere as acting ward chairman without consulting the congress-elected executives, sparking internal disputes within the APC’s Ahiaukwu Ward 2.
