BBN Recap: Koyin Fight Tears, Mensan’s Family Struggles, Imisi’s CoOutburst, Isabella’s Love Triangle, Other Highlights This Week

About one week after it launched with a bang, the highly anticipated Big Brother Naija Season 10, themed “10 Over 10,” is already living up to the hype.

With a grand prize of ₦150 million — the highest in the show’s history since its 2006 debut — the stakes have never been higher.

This year’s edition introduced an all-female cast of 15 housemates on Day 1, a surprise for viewers. Male contestants were held back until the second night, adding a fresh layer of twist to the show.

BBN Season 10 Female Housemates

On Sunday, 14 male housemates entered the house, immediately altering the dynamics and setting the stage for a season likely to feature rivalry, romance, raw emotion, and strategic gameplay.

The theme “10 Over 10” speaks not just to the decade mark season but also to the housemates’ ambitions — each determined to outshine the other and claim the top spot.

Week One Recap

BBN Season 10 Male Housemates

In just seven days, the house has erupted into dramatic fights, emotional confessions, budding love triangles, and strategic alliances.

From intense kitchen brawls to tearful diary sessions and from awkward romantic entanglements to the season’s first pool party, Week 1 stirred the nail-biting drama that kept fans glued to the 10-week show.

Here’s a roundup of the highs, lows, and shocking twists from the opening week of BBNaija Season 10.

The week kicked off with the housemates introducing themselves and sharing details about their backgrounds, personalities, and professions. This followed the emergence of Jason Jae as the HOH for week one.

Fights, Food & Forks: Koyin, Imisi And Kaybobo’s Showdowns

One of the most dramatic moments of the week occurred when Koyin broke down in tears following a heated argument with Kaybobo over food.

The altercation escalated quickly from a disagreement in the kitchen to an emotionally charged confrontation, prompting Koyin to weep in the garden.

However, things took another dangerous dimension when Imisi, amid a separate kitchen argument, threatened to stab Koyin with a fork.

“You will do what? You will stab me?” Koyin challenged. “Oya, come and stab me.”

Other housemates quickly intervened and defused the situation.

Mensan’s Diary Room Confession Breaks Hearts

Away from that, an emotional highlight in week one was Mensan’s vulnerable diary session on Thursday, where he opened up about the pressure of being a support system for his family.

“I have always wanted a father figure… I want to carry my family the way they expect me to,” he said tearfully. Biggie comforted him, saying, “Wipe your tears because diamonds are unbreakable.”

Tears Or Tactics? Housemates Cry ‘Performance’

However, not everyone believed her. In a private chat with Danboskid, Denari accused both Mensan and Kaybobo of staging their tears for sympathy.

“Mensan cried fake tears… Kaybobo also cried because he saw the attention Mensan got,” he claimed. Danboskid agreed, saying, “We need our own flare-up moment.”

The conversation also echoed criticisms from ex-BBN housemate Pere and some viewers, who accused the housemates of using emotional stories as a strategy to gain sympathy and win over viewers. But some suggested it’s all part of the game.

Kaybobo vs. Mensan: ‘You’ll Never Win’

Earlier, Kaybobo and Mensan nearly came to blows during a shouting match over bullying accusations.

“You’re never going to win BBNaija,” Kaybobo screamed. Mensan retorted, “Meet me in Rumuokoro Street, make I less you, idiot!”

Love & Chaos: Isabella, Mide, And Kayikunmi’s Tangled Triangle

Romance also stirred tensions as Mide ended her brief relationship with Kayikunmi after learning he was also romantically involved with Isabella.

“It’s just a lot. I want to take a step back,” Mide told him. Kayikunmi tried to explain his feelings, but was met with resistance.

Isabella later broke down in tears, revealing that they had nearly had sex before Kayikunmi’s shocking confession.

She said, “I just haven’t let him. And now he’s telling me he wants to talk to someone else?”

Victory’s Grandma’s Comment Leaves Gigi Jasmine Confused

Meanwhile, Victory and Gigi Jasmine’s “situationship” – undefined relationship –  took a confusing turn after he told her she reminded him of his grandmother.

When Gigi asked if he still liked her, he avoided the question, saying, “My grandma used to say…”

Clash Over ‘Chef’ Tega’s Chicken

Beyond Gigi’s confusion, Drama also broke out in the BBNaija Season 10 house on Thursday night after Denari and Otega (in charge of the dishes) clashed over food. Denari was upset that Otega, who handled kitchen duties with Big Soso, gave him a small piece of chicken. An angry Denari took more from Otega’s plate, leading to a heated exchange.

“But I give you chicken,” Otega said. Denari lost his cool and shouted as other housemates quickly stepped in to separate them.

Otega, still fuming, fired back, “Am I Big Brother?” The argument almost turned physical before peace returned.

The Doris-Kola-Sabrina Twist

Tension flared when Doris confronted Kola about mixed signals. Kola dismissed their connection as “just friendship,” but Doris, fighting her tears, felt humiliated.

“You made me comfortable, then turned around and embarrassed me,” she cried. After a second confrontation, Kola was heard saying to the camera, “I didn’t sign up for this.”

He confessed to Otega of his feelings for Dede and how a plus-size like Doris was never his type.

Under The Sheets: Zita And Danboskid Caught On Camera

Expectedly, romantic sparks flew as Zita and Danboskid were caught on cam under the duvet. Their chemistry lit up social media, especially after Danboskid had earlier bragged, “I don’t approach girls. If they want me, they’ll come.”

Joanna Breaks Records In The Arena

In week one, Joanna became the first female housemate in BBNaija history to win the first Arena Game, completing the challenge in three minutes and 15 seconds. Her win was met with cheers and a promised reward from Biggie.

Dede Rejects Hug, Claims Polygamous Nature

During the Sunday night launch, Dede declined a hug from Jason Jae, leaving him stunned. She later revealed, “I’m polygamous in nature,” while reiterating her commitment to a relationship outside the house.

Bright Morgan, during his Diary Room session, said he was stunned by Dede’s no-boundary hugs and just handshakes with the new male housemates, describing it as something he had never seen before or expected — almost unheard of to him.

Imisi Opens Up About Child Loss

In another emotional confession, Imisi revealed she lost her four-month-old baby due to mental stress from a toxic relationship.

“I was always crying. I think the stress contributed,” Imisi said.

Isabella Refuses ‘Community Cooking’

Setting early boundaries, Isabella told housemates, “I’m not doing community cooking,” despite being a self-declared good cook. The single mum hopes to find love in the house after a tough breakup.

Wager Disaster & Hunger Games Begin

Friday’s wager task, themed “Unmasking,” ended in disaster. Biggie described their performance as confusing and careless, particularly in its portrayal of mental health.

“You treated it like a joke,” he said. As punishment, the house lost their wager, sparking a blame game.

Sabrina pointed fingers at HoH Jason Jae, who instead went straight to bed. Otega called for shared responsibility. Joanna claimed no one knew what a ball event really was. Meanwhile, Doris celebrated the food lockdown, predicting “more drama.”

BBN Housemates Diary Session

Meanwhile, the housemates’ diary session with Biggie was a personal moment for each of them.

First Pool Party Delivers Vibes

The week ended on a high note with the first pool party. Housemates like Isabella, Kuture, Joanna, Rooboy, and Imisi stole the spotlight with their dazzling looks and energy.

28 Housemates Up For Eviction

In a shocking twist on Monday night, Biggie put all 28 housemates — excluding HOH Jason Jae — up for possible eviction.

Biggie warned them against discussing votes or campaigning — a punishable offence. The housemates are expecting the first eviction to take place on Sunday, August 3.

But, in a plot twist, shortly after the nominations, the show’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, told viewers that there would be no evictions for the week.
