Benue Killings: Youths condemn Tinubu, Alia’s silence

Hundreds of youths on Sunday morning stormed the Wurukum food basket roundabout, in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital, to protest the killing of scores across the state by suspected herdsmen, especially the recent one in Yelwata, area of the State on Saturday.

The Angry protesters who converged on the roundabout as early as 8 am demanded immediate action from president Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia regarding the killings on Saturday.

Addressing Newsmen, one of the protesters, Solomon Amande, condemned the deafening silence of President Bola Tinubu, and the Governor of Benue State over the ugly development which has led to the killing of children, women, and the elderly.

Reports say the highly charged Youths totally resisted an attempt by the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, to address them and demanded that Governor Hyacinth Alia, must personally address them.

According to the reports, the situation which degenerated to the use of teargas by armed policemen and soldiers, saw the defiant protesters resist the intimidation, and insisted on the President and the governor taking a decisive step to end the carnage.

Meanwhile, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the attack and killing of innocent citizens at Yelewata by suspected criminal herders.
