David Beckham to be honoured with knighthood.

One of the most respected and living soccer stars, David Beckham is to be honoured with the award of knighthood during the forth-coming King Charles’ Birthday Honours.

The 50 year non-controversial former England football captain, is being honoured as a further recognition for both his football career, and his contributions to British society.

BBC Sports reports that the list of recipients is expected to be published next week.

Recall, Beckham who was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003 played 115 times for his country as well as for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Paris St-Germain and AC Milan before retiring in 2013.

The renowned and vastly admired former free-kick specialist is married to a singer and fashion designer,Victoria and the couple are blessed with four children – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven.

Before now, Beckham among other things, played a key role in securing the London 2012 Olympics, been an ambassador for Unicef since 2005 and became an ambassador for The King’s Foundation in 2024, supporting King Charles’ education programme and efforts to ensure young people have a greater understanding of nature.

The living legend is also part-owner of League Two side Salford City, as well as president and co-owner of Major League Soccer team Inter Miami in the United States.
