Governor Alex Otti Hosts Senegalese Foreign Minister as Son Marries Abia Bride in Colourful Abiriba Ceremony

Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, warmly hosted the Foreign Minister of Senegal, Mrs. Yassine Fall, at Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area, during the traditional marriage ceremony of her son, Samori Sombel SY, and his Abia-born bride, Mary Aluba Okafor.

The high-profile ceremony also had in attendance the representative of Nigeria’s Vice President, His

Excellency Sen. Kashim Shettima, GCON, who was ably represented by the Honourable Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji.

In his remarks, Governor Otti congratulated the couple and encouraged the bride to love, respect, and nurture her marriage with understanding and patience. He gave his blessings to the union and assured the couple of his presence at their forthcoming white wedding, wherever it may be held.

In an emotional speech, Mrs. Yassine Fall, the Senegalese Foreign Minister, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Otti, the Abiriba community, and the bride’s family for their warm hospitality and support. She assured that her son would take good care of their daughter, celebrating the cultural bridge now formed between Senegal, Nigeria, Abia State, and the Abiriba community. Mrs. Fall also appreciated Vice President Shettima for his thoughtful statesmanship in honouring the occasion.

The colourful traditional wedding was graced by prominent sons and daughters of Abiriba, as well as senior government appointees, marking a significant day of unity, love, and intercultural celebration.
