Imo Police Command launches operation to rescue kidnapped Catholic Priest

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Police Command has directed an intelligence led operation for the rescue and unconditional release of the parish priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Izombe, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Rev Father John Ubaechu kidnapped on Sunday.

A statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye enjoined the general public to help the police with any useful information that might aid the police in securing the release of the abducted priest.

The Catholic Archidiocese of Owerri through its Secretary, Reverend Father Patrick Mbarah, had announced that the victim was kidnapped on Sunday March 23rd, 2025 along Ejemekwuru road in Oguta local government area on his way to the Priests’ Annual retreat.

The Archdiocese therefore called on all Christian faithful and all men and women of goodwill to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release of the priest.
