Legionaries deplore Otti’s aide meddlesome activities

The Abia State Council of the Nigeria Legion has deplored the undue interference of the Special Assistant (Security) to Gov. Alex Otti, Commander MacDonald Uba (rtd) in the Legion’s activities.

The Legionaries alleged that the retired Naval officer has been persistent in attempting to impose officers on the action and have refused to work with those elected to the point of stopping their subvention since January 2024.

According to the Publicity Secretary of the association, Dr. Emmanuel Okafor during the presentation of Ekeleme Lawrence as the State Secretary, Kelechi Ogbuka as his Assistant, Ndubuisi Anugwa as Financial Secretary and Obioma Sunday as Provost as confirmed officers of the association.

He said that the officers would team up to assist the State Acting Chairman to pilot the affairs of the organisation until the Ministry of Defence conducts general elections.

Dr Okafor alleged that Commander MacDonald Ubah had again started to disturb the peace of Nigerian Legion, Abia State by trying to undermined an alleged governor’s directive that the Vice Chairman should assume office of the Acting Chairman, but that Cmdr Ubah told the Governor, who is their Patron, not to recognize our Acting Chairman.

He said that Ubah’s opposition was that the acting chairman, who was elected as vice to the late Commodore, is an “other rank” and so can not assume that position.

It’s on record that Ubah has been fighting the Legion since January 2024 when he stopped our subventions, just because we refused to accept the Chairman he was imposing on us.

The Publicity Secretary said that with the sudden death of their Chairman, Commander Duruoha, they elected, Ubah is still on his voyage of imposition instead of allowing for smooth transition and reminded him of not being a registered member of the association and that the organisation has no function or responsibility to perform for the State government.

” We are here to receive appreciation of government and well-meaning individuals for the services we have rendered.

Why won’t this man allow us to breathe? Since Jan 2024 they have held our subventions, thereby holding salaries of our staff and officers till this moment, “he said.

The association to inform the governor of the subversive actions of his security adviser and equally vowed to resist him through channels provided by extant laws and that Ubah may float CONCERNED LEGION MEMBERS to undermined the present association.
