Natasha Drags Akpabio and Sandra Duru Before IGP and AGF with New Petition

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has submitted a fresh petition against the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and Dr. Sandra Duru, addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.

In the petition, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan alleges criminal conspiracy, defamation, and cyber-related offenses orchestrated by the respondents.

The petition claims that Akpabio and Duru engineered a malicious campaign targeting Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, involving defamation, cyber-stalking, and an attempted assassination.

“The allegations against me are false and part of a conspiracy to undermine my work and reputation,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan stated. She further expressed concern for her personal safety and that of her family, saying, “I fear for my safety and that of my family due to the harassment and intimidation.”

The petition details that Dr. Sandra Duru, under the guise of “Prof. Mgbeke,” initially posed as a supporter before demanding payment for “framing narratives” and mobilizing digital backing. Upon refusal, Duru allegedly initiated a character assassination campaign against the Senator.

Natasha’s legal team emphasized, “We believe the evidence will show a deliberate campaign to malign and endanger our client through false accusations.”

Further allegations in the petition suggest that Senator Akpabio harbored retaliatory motives following Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s public accusation of sexual harassment against him in February 2025.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also urged the IGP and AGF to investigate the alleged assassination attempt linked to the Senate President.

The petition, dated 15th May 2025 and filed by her counsel, Senator Ehiogie West-Idahosa, is supported by extensive evidence including public broadcasts, witness testimonies, media reports, and expert analyses.

According to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, the facts indicate a calculated campaign of retaliation by Akpabio, leveraging proxies and available resources to cause harm.

She called on the Attorney General and Inspector General of Police to scrutinize the involvement of third-party collaborators who publicly endorsed defamatory broadcasts against her, to assess their awareness and participation in the conspiracy.

“We maintain that the actions against our client amount to a criminal enterprise violating multiple laws. We respectfully urge your service to painstakingly investigate the contents of this Petition and ensure that justice is expeditiously dispensed to all who may be found wanting regardless of their status in the Nigerian society,” her counsel, Idahosa, concluded
