ABIA: Massive Road Construction and Rehabilitation in Full Swing Across the State – 67 Ongoing Projects, Including Major New Routes in Bende, Aba, and Ukwa West

In a bold stride toward transforming Abia’s road infrastructure, the state government has announced significant progress on multiple fronts, with ongoing construction and rehabilitation works currently active at 67 locations across the state.
This update was provided by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing on Monday following the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.
According to the Commissioner, 36 sites are presently undergoing rehabilitation and reconstruction through the state’s Direct Labour initiative, while 31 additional locations are being handled by contractors who are fully mobilized and on site.
In addition to the existing works, the state government has recently commenced three strategic road projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and stimulating economic activities. These include the construction of the Bende-Idima-Abam Road, the Ariaria-Timber Market Road in Aba, and the dualization of the Obuaku-Industrial City Road in Ukwa West Local Government Area.
These projects reflect the Otti administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development as a foundation for sustainable growth and improved quality of life for all Abians.
