Niger flood incident saddening – First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu laments

Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has decried the death of over 100 persons due to flooding in Niger State.

The President’s wife in a condolence message on Saturday, described the incident as very saddening.

She attributed it partly to torrential rainfall and the geographical terrain of the state.

Recall that Nigerians woke up to the sad news of the flooding on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th of May, 2025 in Mokwa, Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa communities, with over 100 persons falling victims.

“This devastating flooding, which led to loss of lives and properties due to torrential rainfall and the geographical terrain of the State is very saddening.

“I sincerely pray that God in his infinite mercies gives the families, friends and loved ones of those affected the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss and God grant the departed souls eternal peace and rest.”
