NUJ condemns attack on a Radio station
The Bayelsa Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has challenged the State Commissioner of Police, to fish out the perpetrators of the attack on Rhythm 94.7 FM Yenegoa by armed men and bring them to book.
NUJ in a statement jointly endorsed by the State Council Chairman, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, and the Secretary, Comrade Stanley Imgbi, condemned the act and described it as a rape on the entire media family in Bayelsa State and an attack on press freedom.
The Union enjoined the commissioner of police to station a patrol van around the media house, as is the case in several strategic points in Yenagoa, as a result of the isolated location of the radio station.
Recall, Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Saturday, carted away valuables, including mobile phones, recorders, and operational gadgets belonging to staff on duty.
