Ohanaeze Youth Warns Tinubu, Says INEC Data Signals Pre-Rigging Plot — Jungle Journalist Media Limited

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has condemned the recently released voter registration figures by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing them as fraudulent and a reflection of the falsified 1973 census data that targeted Ndigbo.

In a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, and made available to Jungle-Journalist.Com on Saturday, 30th August 2025, the group alleged that the controversial figures released by INEC are reminiscent of the 1973 census conducted under General Yakubu Gowon, which was annulled after widespread manipulation to diminish the true population of Eastern Nigerians.

According to the statement, “the fraudulent census data of 1973, which General Yakubu Gowon deliberately falsified against Ndigbo, has resurfaced today in INEC’s handling of voter registration data.”

The youth leader recalled that the 1973 census, conducted between November 25 and December 2, was cancelled after Gowon announced a population of 79.76 million — figures widely believed to have been falsified. The then Chairman of the Population Commission, who resisted the manipulation, was dismissed for opposing the fraud.

Drawing a parallel, the OYC accused INEC of manipulating voter registration statistics ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that the figures disproportionately favor the Southwest while undermining the Southeast, South-South, and parts of the North.

“Like Gowon falsified census data out of fear of Ndigbo in 1973, Tinubu’s INEC has falsified voter registration data out of fear of Peter Obi’s influence in 2027,” Igboayaka alleged.

The statement added that INEC’s data suggests a pre-election rigging strategy, using the Southwest as a fallback region to manipulate results should the North, Southeast, and South-South resist.

The OYC consequently issued a 48-hour ultimatum to INEC to correct what it described as “fraudulent voter registration data,” warning that failure to do so would make INEC officials liable for any chaos or instability Nigeria faces before or after the 2027 presidential election.

Comrade Igboayaka further stressed that unless urgent electoral reforms are implemented, Nigerians may be forced into a “robust democratic ballot revolution” to prevent manipulation of the 2027 polls.

“We warn those planning to rig the 2027 election: you will face total resistance from Nigerians across all ethnic groups. If this plan is executed, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the last president of a united Nigeria,” the OYC President declared.
