Police begin investigation into death of NSCDC personnel in Kano attack

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who was attacked by hoodlums during an empowerment programme in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to him, the incident occurred on March 13, 2026, when the civil defence officer was reportedly attacked during the programme by suspected hoodlums.

“The Kano State Police Command received a report on the death of a Civil Defence personnel who lost his life during an attack by hoodlums at an empowerment programme held in Tudun Wada LGA on March 13, 2026,” the statement said.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed a thorough investigation into the incident in collaboration with other security agencies.

“The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, in liaison with other security agencies, has launched a thorough and discreet investigation into the incident with a view to identifying and apprehending the perpetrators,” Kiyawa stated.

The police spokesperson added that the command is determined to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.

“The Commissioner has assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.

Kiyawa explained that the injured officer was rushed to Tudun Wada General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

“The victim was rushed to Tudun Wada General Hospital where he was certified dead, and his corpse has been deposited at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital morgue,” he added.

The command also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The police further appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with useful information as the investigation continues.
