ABIA DSS BOSS PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR NYSC, ADVISES CORPS MEMBERS AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED JOURNEYS

The State Director Department of States Services (DSS), Abia State Command, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abia State, of his command’s continuous collaboration, support and synergy towards the safety and security of corps members in the state, even as he advised corps members against unauthorized journeys due to the risks involved.

The assurance of support came on Wednesday, 16th April 2025, when the State DSS Boss, received in his office, the State Coordinator, NYSC Abia, Barr. (Mrs.) Gladys Adama, who came on a courtesy visit.

While responding to the brief of the Coordinator, Mr. Abdullahi, who congratulated the NYSC helmsman for her numerous achievements during her one year in office, said that he was delighted to receive her, knowing fully well the importance of the scheme to the nation and as such, decided attending to her immediately.

He assured further that his office will immediately carry out some vulnerability assessment of all NYSC facilities in the state for further neccesary actions and that the command will do everything to make the scheme comfortable.

Concluding, the DSS Director advised corps members to have positive attitude towards the service and ensure they make positive impact during the service year.

Earlier in her brief, Mrs. Adama, who congratulated and welcomed the Director to Abia State, stated that she was in his office, to appreciate the DSS for all their support to the scheme in the past and to solicit for more support even as the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I orientation course approaches.

While thanking the intelligence organisation for their positive roles in the affairs of the scheme, the Coordinator further appealed for more support in presenting the state of the NYSC state secretariat to the state government whom she has acknowledged have
commenced rehabilitation of the orientation camp.

With the State Coordinator during the visit were the Assistant Director Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mrs. Patricia Ekechukwu, the Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, Mr. Omaka Nnachi and the Head Corps Discipline and Rewards, Mr. Ogbonnia Emmanuel.

Meanwhile, in a swift response to his earlier promise of conducting a vulnerability assesment of NYSC facilities in the state, few hours after the courtesy visit, the DSS State Director has sent a crack team of his officers for an on-the-spot assessment of the state of the NYSC state secretariat at Finbarrs Road, Umuahia.
