GODA Boss Rallies Grassroots Support for Governor Otti’s Re-election, Cites Unprecedented Development Across Abia

The Director General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), Elder Engr. Obinna Odum, has urged Abians to sustain their support for Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, declaring that the state is witnessing an unprecedented wave of development under the Governor’s leadership.

Odum made the appeal while receiving members of Vision for Good Governance during a courtesy visit to the GODA Headquarters in Amaekpu, Ohafia.

The GODA Director General said Governor Otti’s administration has transformed the governance landscape of Abia State through strategic investments in infrastructure, institutional reforms, human capital development and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

According to him, the level of progress recorded across the five Local Government Areas of Abia North and the rest of the state demonstrates purposeful leadership that deserves the continued support of the people.

“The transformation taking place across Abia today is visible for everyone to see. Roads are being rebuilt, public institutions are working again, confidence has returned to governance, and our people have renewed hope. Abians have never had it this good, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure these gains are sustained,” Odum said.

He stressed that the continuity of the present administration would guarantee the completion of ongoing projects and the implementation of more people-oriented programmes capable of accelerating the state’s economic growth.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hon. Iroha John Igwe, said Vision for Good Governance was established to mobilise grassroots support for Governor Otti’s administration while sensitising communities on the importance of sustaining the reforms and developmental strides of the New Abia agenda.

Also speaking, Comrade Awa Obasi commended the GODA Director General for his open-door leadership and commitment to inclusive governance. He, however, urged the Authority to expand its youth empowerment programmes beyond infrastructure development to create more economic opportunities for young people.

Responding, Elder Odum outlined several interventions already undertaken by GODA to improve youth livelihoods. He revealed that the Authority recently sponsored the training of youths drawn from all the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State in modern agricultural practices through the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), equipping participants with practical skills in agribusiness and entrepreneurship.

He further disclosed that GODA has implemented business support initiatives for petty traders and small-scale entrepreneurs and assured the delegation that additional empowerment programmes targeting youths, women and emerging business owners would soon be rolled out across the state.

The visit ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening grassroots mobilisation, promoting good governance and supporting Governor Alex Otti’s vision of building a prosperous, inclusive and economically vibrant Abia State.
