Atiku Sponsored Impeachment Plot Against Me – OBJ Alleges

In his continued efforts to reveal his relationship with his Vice as he ruled the country in a civilian dispensation, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has alleged that his Vice, Atiku Abubakar, funded his impeachment plot with N5 million during his first term in office.

Obasanjo’s shocking allegation, contained in a statement responding to the comments of former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, regarding the political events that led to the 2003 general elections, claimed that the late Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, was encouraged to commence impeachment proceedings after a meeting with Atiku.

He stoutly claimed that financial support was provided to facilitate the process, maintaining that Atiku gave Na’Abba N5 million to start his impeachment work.

“Na’Abba’s impeachment began at the presidency by the Vice-President, who on a Friday when I was out of the office, invited Na’Abba to his office and convinced him, as he had convinced himself and some others but of insignificant number, that I should have only one term as President.

“On the Friday, Atiku invited Na’Abba; he gave him N5 million to begin his impeachment work. It was all noted, recorded and reported to me by my Chief of Staff, a professional intelligence officer,” the former president alleged.

According to him, everything was all noted, recorded and reported to him by his Chief of Staff, who he described as a professional intelligence officer.

The ex-Nigerian leader popularly known OBJ however revealed that he was not troubled by the impeachment threat because he believed there was no constitutional basis for removing him from office.

Meanwhile, the Atiku camp is yet to react to the allegation.
