Abia CP Meets Retired Police Officers, Reaffirms IGP’s Commitment to Welfare

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Danladi Isa, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, towards improving the welfare of retired police officers across the country.

CP Danladi Isa gave the assurance on Tuesday during a conference held with representatives of retired police officers at the State Police Headquarters in Umuahia.

The meeting, which was attended by members of the Command’s management team, formed part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force leadership to engage retired officers and address issues affecting their welfare and retirement benefits.

Speaking during the engagement, the Commissioner of Police said the Inspector-General of Police remained deeply concerned about the wellbeing of retired officers and had continued to demonstrate commitment towards improving their welfare since assuming office.

He noted that the recently concluded conference between the IGP and senior police officers nationwide further highlighted the Police leadership’s determination to address the concerns of retirees, particularly issues relating to pensions and welfare packages.

According to him, the IGP has sustained engagements and consultations aimed at facilitating the exit of retired police officers from the Pension Commission (PENCOM) scheme in order to improve their welfare conditions.

The meeting also featured an interactive session where retired officers were given the opportunity to express their concerns, make observations and discuss possible solutions and the way forward on pension-related matters.

Also present during the engagement were the Officer-in-Charge of Pension, ASP Chizoma Opara, and the Officer-in-Charge of Insurance, SP Victor Ndukwe, who provided clarifications and guidance on issues raised by the retirees.

The conference is part of efforts by the Abia State Police Command to strengthen communication and maintain cordial relations with retired officers while promoting policies geared towards their welfare and wellbeing.
