The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, on Friday commissioned the newly built Nneato Divisional Police Station, describing the project as a significant demonstration of community commitment to improving security.
The police facility, constructed by the Nneato community, was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, community and youth leaders, as well as officers deployed to the new division.
CP Danladi commended the people of Nneato for their initiative in providing the police with a befitting operational base, noting that the gesture would strengthen efforts to safeguard lives and property in the area.
He urged residents to sustain their support for the police through effective collaboration, timely sharing of credible intelligence and prompt reporting of criminal activities.
According to him, community participation remains indispensable in tackling insecurity and ensuring peaceful coexistence.
The police commissioner also cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, warning that attacks on police personnel or facilities would not be tolerated.
He advised residents to make use of established channels, including the Command’s Complaint Response Unit and the Office of the Commissioner of Police, to report any case of unprofessional conduct by police officers.
CP Danladi charged them to uphold professionalism, efficiency and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities. He directed them to deepen community policing by working closely with residents to promote proactive and intelligence-led policing, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
The commissioner further warned that acts of misconduct would attract appropriate sanctions, stressing the need for officers to respect and protect the fundamental human rights of citizens while carrying out their lawful duties.
