Anambra Govt Arrests Another Native Doctor, ‘Aka Mmou Mmiri Afulu Anya’
In my it’s continued determination to rid the State of all evil money related practices and crimes, the local Security Outfit in Anambra State, Agunaechemba on Thursday arrested popular Nnewi-based native doctor, De Young Chief Priest popularly known as “Aka Mmuo Mmiri Afulu Anya” in his Nnewi office for alleged illegal practices.
The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, to dismantle networks of native doctors allegedly aiding criminal gangs through ritual practices and spiritual fortification.
The current arrest of the Nnewi-based spiritualist known as De Young Chief Priest and seen as having fearful spiritual powers that makes him untouchable is the latest in the crackdown by the Anambra State government on traditionalists and native doctors suspected of preparing charms for criminals.
According to reports, the suspect, who operates in Nnewi in Anambra State, is currently being interrogated by authorities as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged spiritual support provided to criminals in the region.
Although official details of the allegations and the arrest are yet to be released, Sources say the current operation aims to dismantle such networks and discourage practices believed to enable criminal activities.
The latest arrest adds to the recent sentencing of another controversial native doctor, Akwa Okuku Tiwaraki, who was convicted last week under a plea bargain arrangement reached with the Anambra State government.
