Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON, popularly known as Ugo’Ena Nde Abiriba and Mayor Emeritus of Ohafia Local Government Area, has issued a powerful clarion call to the people of Abia North Senatorial District, urging them to rise in unity and take advantage of the forthcoming voter registration exercise beginning Monday, August 18, 2025.

 

Bourdex stressed that elections are not truly won on Election Day but are secured in advance through the strength of the voters’ register. He called on every son and daughter of Abia North to register, revalidate, and ensure their votes will count in shaping the future of the region.

 

According to him, this mobilization is bigger than individuals or political factions, noting that the exercise is crucial for consolidating the developmental strides of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, across Abia State.

 

“This is about the future of Abia North and the continuation of the good governance Governor Otti is delivering. To secure his second term and guarantee victory for Labour Party candidates, we must speak the only language politics understands — numbers,” Bourdex declared.

 

He specifically appealed to Town Unions, Traditional Rulers, Youth Organizations, and political structures such as Abia Rise to mobilize their people and networks towards achieving overwhelming voter registration.

 

Bourdex emphasized that unity, discipline, and determination are needed now more than ever, adding that the era of Abia North being perceived as divided or complacent must end.

 

“Every registered voter is a voice. Every voter’s card is a bargaining chip. Together, our collective voice will thunder so loud that no one can ignore us,” he stated.

 

He concluded with a rallying slogan, urging residents:

If you believe in good governance,

If you believe in progress,

Then rise, register, and be counted.

 

The call by Chief Bourdex has already begun to resonate among political stakeholders in Abia North, setting the stage for massive mobilization across the five Local Government Areas that make up the district.
