Crisis Deepens: Ohafia LGA PDP Chairman And Secretary Dump Party After Ude Oko Chukwu’s Exit | READ DETAILS

Fresh crisis hits Abia PDP as Ohafia Local Government Chairman, Mayor Egesigh Eze Azu, and Secretary, Hon. Kanu Anthony, resign from their positions and the party. Their decision is linked to the exit of former Deputy Governor Ude Oko Chukwu. Read full details inside!

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State deepened on Sunday as the Chairman of the party in Ohafia Local Government Area, Mayor Egesigh Eze Azu, and the Secretary, Hon. Kanu Anthony, tendered their resignations.

In separate letters sighted by All Facts Newspaper, both leaders not only resigned from their positions in the PDP but also announced their complete withdrawal from the party.

Investigations by All Facts Newspaper revealed that the development is not unconnected to the recent resignation of the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, who left the PDP after decades of membership.

Party sources disclosed that the Ohafia PDP Chairman and Secretary were among close loyalists of the former Deputy Governor, and their resignations may signal a larger wave of defections looming in the local government area and across Abia North.

Their exit has now left a leadership vacuum in Ohafia PDP at a time when the party is struggling to recover from major electoral defeats and an internal crisis that has weakened its structures in the state.

As at the time of filing this report, the state leadership of the PDP is yet to issue an official statement regarding the resignation of the two principal officers.

Political observers say this latest development may further cripple the strength of the PDP in Abia North, where opposition parties have continued to gain ground since the 2023 elections.

All Facts Newspaper will continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as more details unfold.
