Enugu Air Begins Flights to Owerri, Expands Domestic Network

Enugu Air, the new state-owned airline of Enugu State, has commenced flights to Owerri, expanding its growing domestic route network.

Jungle-Journalist.Com reports that the airline, officially launched on July 7, 2025, by Governor Peter Mbah at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, is part of the state’s vision to make Enugu a regional aviation hub.

Governor Mbah described the launch as “a giant leap for the state” and a “gold standard for public-private partnership,” noting that Enugu Air is set to boost trade, tourism, and regional integration. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, was also present at the unveiling.

Fleet and Route Expansion

The carrier began operations with a fleet of three Embraer E170 and E190 jets, offering modern comfort and efficiency for regional flights. Initially connecting Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos, the airline now adds Owerri to its list, with plans to include Port Harcourt, Benin, Kano, and other cities soon.

Although flight schedules to Owerri are yet to be publicly announced, sources confirmed that all arrangements for seamless operations have been completed.
