FORMER OHAFIA LGA COUNCILLORS HOLD STRATEGIC MEETING WITH DEPUTY GOVERNOR EMETU, PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON OTTI-EMETU ADMINISTRATION

Former councillors of Ohafia Local Government Area today held a strategic meeting at the country home of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, in a show of solidarity and renewed commitment to the progress of the LGA.

Welcoming the delegation, the Deputy Governor expressed appreciation for their visit and commended their continued interest in the development of Ohafia. He emphasized the importance of responsive leadership, noting that while leadership itself is vital, the ability to listen distinguishes impactful leaders. According to him, this principle is a defining feature of the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, whose inclusive governance style and passion for humanity informed the approval and payment of the long-standing arrears owed to former councillors across Abia State, including those from Ohafia LGA.

Engr. Emetu called for unity and collective responsibility among stakeholders in Ohafia, stressing that sustainable progress cannot be achieved through individual efforts alone. He urged the people to rise above self-centeredness and clannish tendencies, and instead embrace a shared vision for development.

“The progress of Ohafia LGA does not lie in one man’s hands; if we do not love ourselves, no one else can do that for us,” he stated, while encouraging all to work together as one family for the common good.

The Deputy Governor further urged the people of Ohafia LGA to remain appreciative of Governor Otti’s goodwill, noting that the Governor has consistently demonstrated his confidence in the LGA by supporting its leadership representation at the highest level of government. He described this gesture as a clear indication of the Governor’s love and trust in the Ohafia people.

Speaking on behalf of the Former Ohafia LGA Councillors Forum, the leader, Hon. Barr. Kingsley Eke Imaga, expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor for the warm reception accorded them. He commended both the Governor and his Deputy for their commitment to good governance and human dignity.

Hon. Imaga also appealed to the Deputy Governor to disregard any form of propaganda or smear campaigns, affirming that such narratives do not reflect the reality of his leadership and service.

He particularly lauded Governor Otti for the payment of the accumulated arrears owed to former councillors, describing the gesture as both timely and impactful. According to him, the action has reinforced their loyalty and support for the administration.

“Every former councillor needs no preaching, unless the person is wicked. The singular gesture the Governor made has constitutionally made us homeboys for Governor Otti. Anywhere you need our partnership, please do not hesitate. Every support required to advance the good of Ohafia LGA, we will provide,” he declared.

He further noted that the Forum, comprising about 84 members, is fully mobilized and committed to ensuring a seamless political journey for the Governor and his Deputy in the years ahead.

The meeting culminated in the passing of a resounding vote of confidence on the administration of Governor Alex Otti and Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, endorsing their continuity beyond 2027.
