Kwankwaso Has Agreed to Serve as Obi’s Running Mate – Aide
As alignment and realignment regarding the 2027 general elections keep unfolding, there are indications that former Governor of Anambra State , Peter obi has almost concluded discussions with former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to serve as Obi’s running mate for the 2027 Presidential Election.
An ally of the former LP Presidential Candidate, Ibrahim Abdulkarim who revealed this during a television interview on Trust TV programme ‘Nigerian political news’, pointed out that talks between both camps have progressed beyond speculation.

According to Abdulkarim, there is already a clear understanding between the two political figures, adding that supporters on both sides are not in the dark.
“Yes, I can categorically tell you that they have agreed.
“We all know that. Both the Obidients and the Kwankwassiyya Movements are aware of the agreement”, he emphasized.

Political Analysts say such a merger could reshape the 2027 contest as it is likely to alter voting patterns across key regions.
There is no doubt that both leaders have maintained large followership despite being outside the two major parties.
Meanwhile, there has been no official joint statement from Obi or Kwankwaso, though insiders confidently reveal that consultations are ongoing.
If confirmed, the alliance could become one of the biggest political coalitions heading into 2027 as it would lead to the merging of southern and northern support bases.
While the Obidient Movement which gained nationwide attention during the last election cycle has its tentacles spread across southern Nigeria and the middle belt/ Kaduna State, the Kwankwassiyya Movement also commands a solid base in the North, especially the all important Kano.
