Mass Defection Hits PDP as Top Members Join APC in Ukwa West of Abia State
In a shocking turn of events, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has suffered a significant blow as several top members defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ukwa West,on November 17, 2024. The mass defection, which took place in three different locations – Ozaa Ukwu, Ozaa West, and Ipu South – has left the PDP reeling.
Prominent stalwarts who defected are: Sir Engr. Ogbonna Nnamdi Chikaodinaka, deputy chairmanship candidate of PDP in the recent Local Government Council election,Chief Emeka Nwoha,Hon. Ebere Omezuruike (aka Oturu Ogbajie),Mr. Osondu Nwankwo,Hon. Ngozi Nwagbara, former counselor of Ozaa West,Elder Augustine Alioha,Chief David Oforji,Comrade Eze Adiele,Hon. Blessing,Hon. Barr. Ama Eñere,Hon. Okey Ukanna,Hon. Eze Nwoloki,Comrade Ugochukwu Marcus (Bongo),Hon. Chidi Ejiogu
These individuals, along with over 2,000 followers, have abandoned the PDP, dealing a significant blow to the party’s chances in the state.
This defection is not an isolated incident, as similar events have been reported across all 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Abia State.
The APC has been gaining momentum, with many PDP,LP, and APGA members switching allegiance.
