My mission to end cultism in Edo is God-ordained – Gov Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Sunday declared that his mission to address cultism in the state is divinely inspired.

He made the statement during a special thanksgiving mass held in honour of the second anniversary of Blessing Agbebaku as Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, which also coincided with the celebration of Father’s Day.

Speaking at the event, Governor Okpebholo remarked that confronting cultism is not solely a matter of physical strength, emphasizing that he believes his role in the fight stems from a higher calling.

“I want to tell you people that God is here. That’s why if it’s somebody with muscles, with strength to fight cultism, I don’t think I would have been the one. But God has sent me to do that.” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of Father’s Day, the governor likened the commitment and compassion required of fathers to the qualities necessary in leadership. “It takes courage and empathy to be a father. I urge fathers to continue to love and guide their children, as they are blessings from God,” he stated.

Speaker Agbebaku expressed gratitude to guests at the event, particularly Governor Okpebholo, for attending despite his official obligations. He also reiterated the House’s intention to maintain a productive and collaborative relationship with the executive arm.

“Your Excellency, as a house, we want to work with you. We want to form synergy with you to take Edo to the next level. We are very ready to work with you to make sure our people have the best in Nigeria,” Agbebaku stated.
