Family Alleges Chained, Burnt Alive After Quitting Job – Boss Blocks CCTV Access, Police Accused of Evidence Tampering
The people of Nkerefi in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State are in shock and rage following the gruesome and highly suspicious death of their son, Uchenna, who was allegedly burnt alive under questionable circumstances in Enugu.
The deceased, Uchenna, was said to have served his employer, Mr. Uche Adibe, a businessman from Delta State residing in GRA, Enugu, for over seven years. But the loyalty ended in tragedy after a fallout that has now thrown the entire community into mourning.
“My Life Is in Danger” – Distress Call Before Death
According to family sources, Uchenna recently decided to quit after an undisclosed disagreement with his boss. In a chilling twist, his sister revealed that he placed a distress call to her, warning that his employer would not let him leave alive because “he knows too much.”
Barely 24 hours later, Uchenna was found burnt beyond recognition inside the boy’s quarters of his boss’s residence.
Chained Before Death, CCTV Footage Missing, Police Under Fire
While initial whispers suggested suicide, disturbing revelations have ripped that theory apart. On arrival at the scene, the family said they met Uchenna’s body chained before being set ablaze. Even more suspicious, some abandoned cars close to the scene were scorched, but more expensive vehicles nearby were untouched.
Adding fuel to the fire, the family accused Mr. Adibe of denying them access to CCTV footage, which could unravel the truth. To worsen matters, they claim police officers deleted video evidence taken during the recovery of the body – officers allegedly led by the DPO invited by the same boss now under suspicion.
Nkerefi Youths Threaten Showdown – “We’ll Seek Justice by Fire or Thunder!”
The Nkerefi community is now on the brink of explosion. Community leaders have branded the incident “a barbaric act, a cover-up, and a slap on human dignity.”
Youth leaders warned that if authorities fail to act fast, the situation could spiral into chaos. They are demanding the Governor of Enugu State, the State Commissioner of Police, and DSS boss launch an independent probe immediately.
Family Calls for Human Rights Groups, Civil Society to Intervene
The grieving family has appealed to rights organizations and the public not to allow Uchenna’s death to be swept under the carpet.
“This is murder, and it must not die in silence,” they vowed.
As at the time of filing this report, neither Mr. Uche Adibe nor the Enugu State Police Command has issued an official statement.
