Nigeria Shines in Rome as Two Pupils Win Double Gold at 2026 International STEM Olympiad
Nigeria has once again demonstrated its academic excellence on the global stage as two young pupils secured gold medals at the 2026 International STEM Olympiad Grand Finale held in Rome, Italy.
The prestigious competition, which attracted outstanding students from more than 150 countries, featured contests in Mathematics, Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM), providing a platform for some of the world’s brightest young minds to showcase their abilities.
Leading Nigeria’s remarkable performance was Don Anele Munachimso, who won the Gold Medal in Science, while Egejurum Onyedikachi Ethan claimed the Gold Medal in Mathematics and was crowned the World’s Best in Mathematics (Primary Category).
The outstanding achievement followed the duo’s impressive performance at the Southeast Mathematics Olympiad, where they earned qualification to represent Nigeria at the international grand finale.
