Oboro Councillor Empowers Students, Teachers with 10,000 Exercise Books, Rice, Solar Lights

Residents, teachers and students in Oboro Ward 2 of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State have commended Nkem Uba Ebilah for embarking on a large-scale educational support programme involving the distribution of 10,000 customised exercise books to pupils and students across the ward.

The exercise, which commenced on Monday, May 11, 2026, covered all 17 government and private schools in Oboro Ward 2, with beneficiaries ranging from Nursery 2 pupils to Senior Secondary School 3 students.

Teachers in the various schools also benefited from the distribution as bags of foreign rice were donated to them by the councillor.

 

During visits to the schools, Rt. Hon. Ebilah reportedly expressed satisfaction with the level of academic excellence and discipline displayed by the students, assuring them of continued support towards improving education in the area.

In a related development, the councillor also donated bags of rice to students of the Faculty of Law, Abia State University Extension, Umudike, particularly those residing in male and female hostels. He further facilitated the installation of solar-powered street lights approved by Alex Otti for his constituency.

The solar lights were installed around strategic locations within the university environment, including the school gates, hostels and reading halls, as well as parts of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Students and residents who spoke during the exercise praised the councillor for what they described as quality representation and grassroots leadership.

They also reaffirmed their support for Governor Otti’s administration, describing the governor as development-oriented.

Addressing the students, Rt. Hon. Ebilah encouraged them to take their education seriously and strive to become responsible leaders in the future. He urged eligible senior secondary school students to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing the importance of participating actively in the democratic process.

He also offered prayers for the students, expressing hope that many of them would rise to occupy strategic leadership positions in the state and the country.

Rt. Hon. Ebilah thanked Governor Otti for the opportunity to serve under his administration and appreciated members of his team and constituents for their continued support.

He equally commended the management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike and the leadership of the ABSU Law Extension campus in Umudike for their cooperation and commitment towards the welfare of students
