Renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, popularly known as Ofuji, has disbursed millions of naira to women petty traders across Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State, to support and expand their businesses.

The empowerment programme, organised by the Chima Anyaso Foundation, was held on February 6, 2026, and benefited over 100 women, each of whom received ₦200,000 as business support grants.

Speaking through Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Chima Anyaso Foundation, Dr. Anyaso said the initiative was aimed at cushioning the effects of the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
He noted that the intervention also complements the efforts of the Abia State Government under Governor Alex Otti to improve the welfare of residents.

Onuoha urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously to ensure sustainability and promote grassroots economic growth.
In his remarks, Bende PDP LGA Chairman, Chief Ihechi Phillips, commended the gesture, describing it as practical support that stands in contrast to unfulfilled political promises.
The event attracted community leaders and political stakeholders from across party lines, with representatives of ADC, APC, Labour Party, PDP, and YPP in attendance.
The February programme marks the second major outreach by the Chima Anyaso Foundation in 2026. Earlier, on January 1, the foundation distributed cash grants of ₦500,000 and ₦250,000 to youths and selected individuals across the constituency.
