In a renewed move to consolidate the Labour Party’s rising political dominance in Abia State, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, on Sunday hosted a high-powered strategic consultative meeting with stakeholders from Ohafia Local Government Area. The gathering, which held at his Amaekpu Ohafia country home, brought together party leaders, elected officials, technocrats, and ward representatives in a robust engagement aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.

The well-attended meeting echoed a clear message: Labour Party is reorganizing, expanding, and mobilizing massively ahead of crucial political engagements, including the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Addressing the stakeholders, Deputy Governor Emetu emphasized that unity, coordination, and sustained engagement remain the pillars of the party’s growth, especially under the transformational leadership of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. According to him, consolidating the gains of the Otti administration requires a strong political base that is active, organized, and responsive.

Stakeholders unanimously agreed on the urgent need to reinvigorate routine political meetings across the 11 wards to enhance communication and drive strategic outreach. The CVR exercise formed a major highlight of the discussions, as leaders resolved to embark on an aggressive mobilization campaign to ensure that eligible voters across Ohafia register, adding to the growing electoral strength of the Labour Party.

Participants also reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to Governor Otti’s administration, praising his developmental strides and commitment to rebuilding Abia’s infrastructure, economy, and public governance systems.

A key moment at the meeting was the update on the upcoming Ohafia LGA Trade Fair, scheduled for December 16–20, 2025, at the Ohafia Local Government Secretariat. Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Deputy Mayor of Ohafia, Hon. Dr. Eme Iro, described the fair as a landmark economic initiative poised to stimulate local trade, showcase indigenous enterprises, and open new investment opportunities across the region. Stakeholders embraced the project and pledged full support.
