The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of six male suspects allegedly involved in armed robbery and cult-related activities, recovering firearms, drugs, and other incriminating exhibits in separate operations across the state.

According to a press release signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were made between August 19 and 22, 2025, as part of the police’s ongoing crackdown on violent crimes and cultism.

Four Arrested with Firearms, Drugs in Enugu
On August 22, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m., operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested four suspects identified as Samuel Chisom Okpubo (23), Steven Agwu (26), Elijah Umah (27), and Ifenre Ifebuche (22). Items recovered include one firearm, an expended cartridge, substances suspected to be methamphetamine (popularly known as Mkpuru-miri), and other exhibits.

The arrest followed the confession of Uzor Okwudili (23), who was earlier arrested by operatives of Abakpa Division for cultism, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the suspects belong to the Black Axe confraternity, while the others are members of the Vikings confraternity.

Another Suspect Nabbed in Udi LGA
In a related development, on August 19, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m., the same operatives, working with Neighbourhood Watch members, stormed Ogor-Affa in Udi Local Government Area and arrested one Emehelu Nichodemus, a.k.a. “SP Fado” (48). A locally made pistol was recovered from him, and he confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

Police Reassure Residents
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements from the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency hotlines.
