BREAKING NEWS: ADC Suspends Abia Chairman Don Norman Over Alleged Misconduct

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has been thrown into a storm of controversy as its embattled State Chairman, Mr. Don Norman Obinna, has been slammed with an indefinite suspension over allegations of misconduct, high-handedness, and disregard for party principles.

Jungle-Journalist.Com reports that the decision was taken on Friday during a heated harmonisation meeting of all ADC factions at Nobik International Event Centre, Aba, in a move party insiders describe as “long overdue.”

According to party sources, the suspension followed multiple petitions, including one filed by Deputy Social/Welfare Secretary, Mr. C.C. John, accusing Don Norman of authoritarian leadership and mismanagement of party assets, notably the alleged sale of two party vehicles without due process.

Meeting Turns the Heat on Norman

The session, moderated by the party’s National Welfare Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, was originally convened to unite feuding factions and chart a way forward. But events quickly spiraled when allegations against Norman dominated proceedings.

Ukandu declared that the repositioning of the party was now “paramount,” stressing grassroots mobilisation and unity as ADC prepares for the next political phase.

Addressing the press after the meeting, newly installed Interim Chairman, Mazi Okoroafor Kanu, did not mince words:

“I was his deputy, and I can tell you Don Norman ran the party like a personal business. He never respected the executive or committee members. Two party Sienna vehicles are gone—sold off. Meetings became one-man shows. Enough is enough,” Kanu stated.

He confirmed that a disciplinary committee has been set up, chaired by himself, to probe all allegations leveled against Norman. Pending the outcome, Norman remains suspended.

Top Party Leaders Present

The meeting had in attendance key political heavyweights, including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, legal luminary Etigwe Uwa (SAN), Uwaoma Olewengwa, Okey Ezeala, and Barrister Kalu Kalu Agu, the Zonal Legal Adviser.
