Preacher Calls For Obedience to Divine Instructions As NUJ Press Week Commences

The 2026 Press week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Information Chapel, Abia state has rolled off the ground with thanksgiving Service at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Wesley Cathedral Umuahia

Preaching at the service, a lay preacher of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Barr. Kelechi Agupusi, enjoined Christians to become students of divine instructions in order to achieve their destinies and fulfill their purpose in life.

Dwelling on the topic “The Radiant Light” taken from Psalms 114:1-7 and titled, Barr. Agupusi maintained that belivers in Christ can only get to their destination through heeding to God’s instruction.

Drawing reference from Israelites who were directed by God to leave Egypt and journey to the Canaan land, Barr. Agupusi noted that though there were many obstacles on their way, adhering to God’s instructions saw them through.

He challenged everyone including journalists, to aways llisten to God and get directives on how to make effective use of their tools to be able to surmount their challenges of life. He maintained that, even if the instructions from God appear to be foolish, they must not be neglected for God’s ways are different from that of man.

“God can instruct you or speak to you to take an action. Imagine God directing the people to walk round and blow trumpets against the walls of Jericho. This looks foolish but that’s God’s instruction.

“God is saying that there are tools we should pay attention to, and these tools are mighty because they are through God,” Agupusi stated.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ) State Information Chapel, Comrade Chidinma Enyinnaya said that the Chapel was holding her 2026 Press Week and decided to kick start it with a thanksgiving unto the Lord, considering his mercies upon the members of the union.

Comrade Enyinnaya used the opportunity inform the congregants that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended its registration time and urged all to ensure they are registered to enable them exercise their civic right during the election period.

While inviting the church and other people to the Press Week, the Chapel Chairman thanked the Presbyter of Methodist Church Nigeria Wesley Cathedral, the Very Rev. Aaron Akubuokwu and all his co- labourers in God’s vineyard for granting the Chapel the opportunity to do her thanksgiving in the church and asked God to bless them.
