Fresh revelations expose how former Abia Information Commissioner allegedly lobbied to join Otti’s Labour Party ticket while still serving under ex-Governor Ikpeazu

Abia politics has taken a new twist as fresh allegations have emerged against Eze Chikamnayo, the former Commissioner for Information under ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who is now parading himself as a social crusader.

According to a detailed account by political actor and equally former commissioner Ubani Dannie, Chikamnayo allegedly made frantic moves to abandon his boss Ikpeazu in the heat of 2023 elections in order to secure a Labour Party ticket for Umunneochi Constituency under the leadership of Dr. Alex Otti.

Ubani, who described Chikamnayo as a friend, claimed that multiple meetings were held at Olive Hotel, Umuahia, where Chikamnayo allegedly pleaded that he be allowed to fly Labour Party’s flag even if it meant resigning abruptly from Ikpeazu’s cabinet.

But the bombshell came when Ubani reportedly presented the “deal” to then Labour Party governorship candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, during a private meeting at Otti’s residence.

According to him, Otti flatly rejected the move, describing Chikamnayo as a political liability.

“With a character like Eze Chikamnayo, what will we tell Abians we are doing differently from this decadent system?” Otti allegedly asked, stressing that his project was about service and raising governance standards, not desperate alliances.

Ubani narrated that Otti ended the conversation abruptly, dismissing the idea of working with Chikamnayo, whom he considered unfit for the new political order Labour Party sought to build in Abia.

This revelation is coming at a time when Chikamnayo has been on a media rampage against Governor Otti, portraying himself as a fearless critic. However, his alleged desperation to switch sides in 2023 is now raising questions about his credibility as a “social crusader.”

Political analysts argue that this fresh exposure paints Eze Chikamnayo as a man driven not by principle but by political survival, willing to switch camps at the last minute to secure relevance.

For many Abians, the controversy raises a bigger question: Can someone who allegedly sought to betray his former boss and was rejected by Otti now be trusted as a voice of truth?
