Save me from eviction in my house, Abia widow begs Governor Otti’s wife

A 62-year-old widow, Mrs Nkechinyere Ndukwe, has appealed to the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti, to urgently intervene and save her from being evicted from her property.

Mrs Ndukwe who is a retired school Head Mistress, said some persons who are claiming ownership of her building at No.62 Mission Hill Umuahia, have removed the doors, windows, fence of the property and also planning to demolish the house.

The appeal is contained in a Save-my-Soul letter raised by the Human Rights Committee of Nigerian Bar Association NBA, Umuahia branch, on behalf of the widow and addressed to Mrs Otti.

In the letter, Mrs Ndukwe lamented that the same persons have been intimidating her to sign a document suggesting that she had sold the property to them, which she refused to sign.

Ndukwe, who explained that the house jointly belongs to her, her daughter and her son, regretted that the acclaimed buyers of the building are saying that they have purchased it from her son, even when she is not aware of such a transaction.

She said that she now lives in darkness without any form of protection as electric wires, doors, windows, fences and burglary proofs have completely been pulled down by the acclaimed buyers.

The NBA Umuahia branch of the Human Rights Committee appealed to the Abia Governor’s wife for urgent intervention on the matter.
