Uturu Killings: Isuikwuato Lawmaker Hon. Lucky Johnson Condemns Attack, Commends Governor Otti’s Swift Response
Hon. Lucky Johnson condemns Uturu killings, hails Governor Otti’s response, and urges Isuikwuato people to stay alert and support the fight against crime.
The Honourable Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, has strongly condemned the recent killing of two Chinese miners and a Nigerian police officer at a mining site in Uturu, describing the incident as barbaric, senseless, and an affront to the peace-loving people of Isuikwuato.
In a press statement made available to the media on Sunday, Hon. Johnson expressed deep sadness over the gruesome attack and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the Nigerian Police Force, and the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China.
The lawmaker said the attack was not only an assault on innocent lives but also a dangerous threat to ongoing economic development efforts within the constituency, which could discourage both local and foreign investors from operating in the region.
“This despicable act of violence is a painful blow to our constituency, our economy, and our collective efforts to attract investors. We cannot allow the evil actions of a few to derail the progress of many,” Hon. Johnson stated.
He commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex C. Otti, OFR, for his swift and decisive reaction to the incident, particularly his immediate directive to security agencies to launch a full-scale manhunt for the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.
“I salute the proactive steps of His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti. His leadership in moments like this proves his commitment to securing the lives and properties of every citizen and investor in Abia State,” the lawmaker said.
While expressing confidence in the capacity of security agencies to apprehend the criminals, Hon. Johnson urged residents of Isuikwuato, especially those in and around Uturu, to remain vigilant and security-conscious.
He called on constituents to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security post, emphasizing that the safety of the community is a collective responsibility.
“Security is everyone’s business. We must support our security operatives with timely information. If you see something, say something. Together, we can defeat these evil elements.”
The lawmaker also reminded the people of Isuikwuato that he remains accessible and committed to their welfare. He encouraged them to reach out to him on any matter of concern or community issue, assuring that their voices will always be heard and their safety prioritized.
“As your representative, I am always open to hearing from you. Whether it’s about security, development, or other concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out. Your safety and well-being remain my top priority.”
Hon. Lucky Johnson reaffirmed his dedication to working closely with the state government and security agencies to ensure that such a tragic incident does not recur and that peace and stability are restored to every corner of the constituency.
