ADC Enugu Chapter Rejects INEC’s Voter Registration Data as Misleading — Jungle Journalist Media Limited

Enugu, Nigeria – The African Democratic Congress (ADC), through its Enugu State chapter, has vehemently rejected the latest Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Enugu State and the broader Southeast region. The party described the figures as “false, manipulated, and designed to suppress the voting power of the region.”

In a statement signed by Comrade David C. Ani, ADC’s State Publicity Secretary, the party emphasized that the published numbers starkly contradict the actual participation on the ground, where thousands were mobilized to register both online and in-person.

Disputed Numbers vs. Ground Reality

According to INEC, the Southeast states recorded the following new registrations:

• Abia: 772
• Anambra: Nil
• Ebonyi: 261
• Enugu: 484
• Imo: 481

However, ADC contends that these figures are a “gross misrepresentation,” especially in Enugu, where the party claims more than 2,000 registrations occurred during the CVR period.

According to information available to Jungle-Journalist.Com, ADC members and officials monitored the exercise closely and confirmed that registration centers witnessed large turnouts, particularly in Enugu metropolis, Nsukka, and other local councils. The party insists that the published numbers are “practically impossible and highly suspicious.”

ADC Demands Answers—and Audit

“The figures released by INEC are not only laughable but also a dangerous attempt to disenfranchise the people of Enugu and the Southeast,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the party accused INEC of exhibiting a “long-standing pattern of bias and corruption,” warning that data manipulation threatens Nigeria’s runoff toward democratic governance.

In response, ADC has urged INEC to retract the figures and publish accurate data. It also called on citizens to remain vigilant and secure their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.

To substantiate their concerns, ADC has launched an independent inquiry into the figures and plans to release its findings in due time.

Context from National Controversy

This dispute coincides with a broader national controversy: Earlier this week, ADC challenged the credibility of first-week online pre-registration figures, particularly in the South-West, where Osun State reportedly contributed 393,269 registrations—higher than its total new voters added from 2019 to 2023 (275,815). ADC pointed out that the South-West accounted for 67% of all pre-registrations, while the entire South-East recorded just 1,998.

INEC, however, defended the numbers, stating that such patterns mirror historical pre-registration trends from the 2021 CVR cycle, where Osun consistently led in online pre-registrations.
