Enough is Enough: Ako-Atulomah Declares War on Failed Leadership in Ikwuano/Umuahia

Chief Enyinnaya Duke Ako-Atulomah has issued a strong and timely message to the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, urging them to break away from the cycle of “recycled politicians” and take decisive action toward securing a better future for the region.

Speaking in Abuja during a media briefing, Chief Ako-Atulomah stressed that the continued recycling of the same political figures many of whom have held positions of power for years without delivering tangible results has significantly slowed the pace of development in the constituency. He pointed out that despite the enormous human and natural potential of Ikwuano/Umuahia, the area still grapples with poor road infrastructure, limited access to quality healthcare, underfunded schools, youth unemployment, and a lack of sustainable economic opportunities.

According to him, governance should not be a retirement plan for career politicians who rebrand themselves every election cycle without a track record of measurable impact. “Leadership is about service, results, and accountability not familiarity or political entitlement,” he stated firmly.

Chief Ako-Atulomah called on voters to reflect critically on the performance of those who have previously held office. He emphasized that elections should not be driven by sentiment, party loyalty, or financial inducements, but by verifiable achievements and a clear vision for the future. He urged constituents to ask hard questions:
What projects have been completed?
How many lives have been genuinely impacted?
What policies have improved the standard of living of the average citizen?

He noted that in many cases, funds allocated for constituency development have not translated into visible progress on the ground. “It is no longer enough to make promises during campaigns,” he said. “The people must demand evidence proof of work, proof of commitment, and proof of impact.”

With a tone of urgency, he encouraged the electorate to use the power of their votes wisely by voting out non performing politicians who have failed to justify the trust placed in them. “Democracy gives the people a voice, but more importantly, it gives them the power to correct mistakes. If a leader has not performed, the ballot box is where that decision must be made clear,” he added.

Explaining his personal motivation, Chief Ako-Atulomah declared that this very situation is what compelled him to step forward and join the race. He encouraged young people, professionals, and credible new voices within Ikwuano/Umuahia to step forward and participate actively in politics.
