I Investigated Pastor Jerry Eze, He is clean – EFCC Chair, Olukoyede reveals

Unknown to many Nigerians, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has at one time investigated popular preacher and Lead Pastor Streams of Joy International and convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers (NSPPD), Jerry Eze on allegations that were later found out to be false and unfounded.

Speaking at the Jerry Eze Foundation Business Grant Award in Abuja, the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, revealed that the agency conducted a six-month investigation into the humanitarian and former broadcaster Jerry Eze.

According to the EFCC Boss, the probe which centred on allegations of money laundering, uncovered no evidence of wrongdoing against the cleric.

“Sometimes, I wish we could change the terms ‘church’ and ‘mosque’ and instead adopt the idea of an assembly of righteous people filled with the spirit of God.

“In churches, you have bishops, and in mosques, you have imams. I can tell you that many of them are currently in our custody, while several others have been convicted for fraudulent practices. It is quite unfortunate.

“I’m going to embarrass you today. I didn’t initially plan to say this, but it’s my own way of contributing.

“I investigated Pastor Jerry Eze for six months over alleged money laundering. We act based on intelligence and petitions.

“There was an account receiving large inflows of dollars and pounds from countries such as Colombia, the United States, Sri Lanka, and even Togo. However, after our investigation, we found nothing suspicious,” he revealed.

Pastor Jerry Uchechi Eze, a former Presenter/Broadcaster with the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia state is the founder of Streams of Joy International and convener of the massive online prayer movement, New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration(NSPPD) Popularly known for its dictum, “what God cannot do does not exist” .
