Kebbi govt dissolves AFUSTA governing council, appoints sole administrator

Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, AFUSTA, following the recommendations of a visitation panel set up to review the institution’s affairs.

The decision was approved at a meeting of the State Executive Council, according to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida.

The government also relieved the Vice Chancellor and the two Deputy Vice Chancellors (Academic and Administration) of their duties.

The Registrar and the Bursar were similarly removed, while the appointment of Abba Mohammed Adua was terminated.

Following the development, Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed as Sole Administrator of the university.

He is expected to oversee the institution’s affairs pending the reconstitution of a new Governing Council and the appointment of new principal officers.

The decision takes effect from April 30, 2026.
