NPFL: Why Rivers United are struggling – Olanrewaju

Rivers United assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju has said they paying the price for their heavy schedule.

Finidi George’s side lost 1-0 to Niger Tornadoes in a rescheduled matchday 26 encounter on Thursday.

Terdoo Shimagande scored the winning goal for Tornadoes in the 67th minute.

It was Rivers United’s third consecutive defeat on the road.

The Port Harcourt club have played the highest number of games in the NPFL this season.

Olanrewaju said their continental engagement has affected the team.

“But it’s one of those things; I think we are paying the price of playing the continent. Games are accumulated, and everybody is playing for something,” he stated.
